Jim Rothbauer, PT, ATC, received his B.S. in Sports Medicine in 1991 from Marietta College. He earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1993. His professional career brought him to Lexington in 1996 where he eventually became supervisor of the University of Kentucky Sports Physical Therapy Department in 2000. In 2002 he left the University of Kentucky to work for Drayer Physical Therapy Institute. In 2003 he was named Regional Vice President of Kentucky operations for Drayer. During his eight years with Drayer Jim was responsible for developing the Kentucky region where he opened five facilities and supervised over seventy employees. In May 2010 Jim left Drayer to open his own physical therapy practice Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy.
Samantha (Sam) Ashford, PT, DPT, was born and raised in Lexington, KY and could not imagine receiving her college education from anywhere other than UK. She received her Kinesiology-Exercise Science degree in 2009 and went on to receive her doctorate in physical therapy in 2012. Sam has worked at Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy since May 2013. She enjoys practicing the McKenzie method with patients suffering from disorders of the spine and is continuing her education on this technique through specialized courses. Sam also has an abundant interest in preventative rehabilitation, particularly with young athletes, to reduce their risk of injury given the competitive nature of sports nowadays. Currently Sam lives in Nicholasville, KY with her husband Andrew, her son Henry, and their two dogs: Penny and Luke. She enjoys staying physically fit by running and weight training.
Kathryn Hunt, PT, Cert., MDT, received her Physical Therapy degree from The University of Louisville in 1992. She began her career at the University of Kentucky, where she was until 2005. She then began working for Drayer Physical Therapy where, in 2006, she became a Certified Mechanical Diagnostic Therapist. Joining OSPT in 2015, Kathryn brings longstanding experience working with orthopedic and mechanical spine diagnoses. She has a plethora of continuing education, many of which focus on the total spine. She has taken her knowledge and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Kentucky. Kathryn calls Lexington, KY her home. On her free time, she enjoys fitness training, including Zumba, and training for marathons.
Matthew Stevens, DPT, grew up in Fort Mitchell, KY and he moved to Lexington after high school to attend the University of Kentucky where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016, also at the University of Kentucky. Matt started his career as a physical therapist at OSPT in September, 2016. His primary interests include orthopedics, especially rehabilitation of the back and knee. He is an avid fan of the Reds, Bengals, and Wildcats. In his spare time he enjoys running, playing sports, and traveling to new places.
